Planning your luggage shouldn’t be stressful. Valizu makes it incredibly easy to organize your bags, track weights, and learn from other travelers. Let’s walk through how to create your very first trip plan.
Step 1: Discover or Start from Scratch
When you open Valizu, your Home Feed shows popular trips and luggage blueprints created by the community. You have two options to begin:
- Copy an existing trip: If you see a trip that perfectly matches your upcoming vacation (like “Summer in Italy”), simply tap “Copy to my trip”. All the bags and items from that template will be instantly copied as a draft for you to customize!
- Start a new plan: Tap the “+” (Plus) button on the bottom navigation bar, or search for your destination city to start planning a brand new trip.
Step 2: Enter Trip Details
If you’re starting from scratch, the Create a Trip wizard will guide you through the essentials:
- Where are you going? (e.g., Paris, France)
- When are you traveling? (Select your dates)
- How are you getting there? (Flight, Train, Bus, Car)
Pro-tip: If you’re flying, knowing your transportation method helps you keep track of specific airline baggage policies later!
Step 3: Add Your Bags
Once your trip is set up, it’s time to add luggage. Tap “Add Bag” and choose a bag type (Carry-on, Checked, Backpack, etc.).
- Premium Feature: You can manually adjust the dimensions and base weight of your specific suitcase to ensure highly accurate tracking against airline limits.
Step 4: Pack Your Items
Now for the fun part. Open a bag and tap “Add Item”. Browse Valizu’s extensive catalog of 255+ common travel items, or pick from your own saved themed lists (like “Beach Essentials” or “Winter Gear”).
As you add items, watch the total bag weight automatically update at the top of your screen. No more guessing at the check-in counter!
Step 5: Save or Publish
Once your luggage is packed:
- Save as Draft: Keep it private for your own use.
- Publish: Share your brilliant packing strategy with the Valizu community! Other travelers will be able to discover and copy your trip blueprint for their own vacations.
